The glory of medicine is that it is constantly moving forward, that there is always more to learn - William J Mayo (1861-1939).
It is my privilege to share the information that the IUGA Regional Symposium 2018 & URPS 2018 - operative workshop and conference on "Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery” scheduled to be held from 07th to 09th of September 2018 at The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University Auditorium, No. 69, Anna Salai, Guindy, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600032 .
This year, the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) has joined hands with URPSSI and the Regional symposium of IUGA & URPS 2018 is jointly organized.
Surgeons may be admired, praised and even adored for good results. But then, we are blamed more than any other specialty for bad results despite all our hard work.
By improving the methods existing and by devising better strategies, especially to tackle the complex problems, it may be possible to avoid repeated surgeries, reduce the morbidity and improve the quality of life of our patients.
Veteran Urogynecologists from different continents, will unravel the intricacies of pelvic floor surgeries.
The following operative procedures will be demonstrated.
The growing scientific advances demand a continual learning and updating process . Regular and lifelong knowledge acquisition of newer management modalities becomes an absolute necessity for the medical fraternity.
Ladder of learning constitute these fundamental steps:
Great surgeon Theodoric (1205- 1296) has said that “it behooves practitioners of surgery to frequent the places where skilled surgeons operate, and to attend these operations diligently and commit them to memory” Adopting this, URPSSI has conducted 18 operative workshops and conferences in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic surgery so far because excellence can only be accomplished by training and habituation. .
The professional fraternity in India is quite large and committed to the health needs of 657 million (65.7 cores) women in our country. Because of it there exists a yawning gap between care seekers and care providers in India. Overcoming this disparity is a great challenge.
Periodical conferences and workshops conducted by URPSSI involving national and international Urogynecology experts offered to a focused gathering of participants turn into short term rapid learning & unlearning process. Large group of specialists derive the benefit in a short time and eventually the challenging gap between care seekers and providers gets shortened.
Let us work together and address the unmet health needs of our women.
Let us pledge to improve the Qol of women suffering from Urogynecological diseases.
Let us "Bridge the gap between the care seekers and care providers" in our country.
